Nokia 5, Nokia 8 prices ‘slashed’ by up to Rs 8,000

If you are a fan of Nokia smartphones, particularly the budget Nokia 5 and the 2017 flagship Nokia 8, this could be your best chance to buy them at reduced prices. Nokia 5 variant with 3GB RAM, which was launched in November last year, is now available at Rs 12,499. This is a price cut of Rs 1,000. There is no change in prices of the 2GB RAM variant that came out in July last year.
While a price cut of Rs 1,000 is not an eye-opener, what may surprise users is that HMD’s flagship smartphone of 2017, the Nokia 8, is now said to be available at Rs 8,000 less. The smartphone was launched in India in September last year at Rs 36,999. Now, it can be purchased at Rs 28,999.
It is worth adding that these revised prices come few days before the onset of MWC 2018 conference that is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain starting February 26. At the conference, HMD is said to launch its Nokia 9 handset, a device that has been in rumours since past few months.
The new prices of Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 comes courtesy Mahesh Telecom, a Mumbai-based retailer. For now the prices of the two handsets are the same online. HMD also hasn’t confirmed the new prices of the smartphones.
With Nokia 8 at Rs 28,999, users get dual 13MP rear camera setup powered by Carl Zeiss optics. There is a front-facing camera with the same megapixel count. The smartphone features a 5.3-inch Quad HD display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It is backed by a 3090 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.
Nokia 5 has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display and sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor under the hood along with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. There is a single 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.
