New Nokia smartphones to get Android 8.0 Oreo update soon

Nokia launched its first Android phones – the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 with Android 7.0 Nougat – at MWC earlier this year. Recently Juho Sarvikas, chief product officer of HMD Global confirmed via Twitter that all new Nokia smartphones will be getting Android 8.0 Oreo update. The timeline for the update, however, hasn’t been confirmed. Android Oreo, Google’s latest Android version which was announced last month is only available for Pixel and Nexus devices in the Android beta version.
A bunch of other companies like HTC, Sony, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Asus have also confirmed that their devices will be getting the Android 8.0 update soon.
The Nokia 6 which is priced at Rs 14,999 supports dual-SIM cards and has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved glass coating and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with Adreno 505 GPU and 4GB LPDDR3 RAM. The handset comes with 4GB RAM.
On the storage front, the Nokia 6 comes with an inbuilt 64GB storage, which can be expanded via microSD card up to 128GB. It is powered by a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Phase Detection Autofocus and f/2.0 aperture. There is also an 8MP front-facing camera with 84-degree wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture.
The 4G LTE-supporting Nokia 6 comes with Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, USB OTG and Wi-Fi as connectivity options and packs a 3000mAh battery. The smartphone measures 154 x 75.8 x 7.8mm, has dual speakers powered by Dolby Atmos tech, 3.5mm headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor at the front on the home button.
Nokia 5, priced at Rs 12,899, has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution. The display is coated with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The smartphone sports a 6000-series aluminum build and comes in four colour variants – Tempered Blue, Copper, Black and Silver. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB).
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430. The Android 7.1 Nougat-based handset has a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and f/2 aperture along with an 8MP front-facing camera with 84-degree wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture.
The Nokia 5 is backed by the same 3,000mAh battery and sports the same connectivity features as the Nokia 6.
Nokia 3, priced at Rs 9,499, features the same built as the Nokia 5, but has a smaller 5-inch IPS display with HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution. The handset sports an 8MP autofocus front and back camera sensors with f/2.0 aperture. Powered by the quad-core MediaTek MT6737, the Nokia 3 includes 2GB RAM with 16GB expandable storage. It is backed by a 2630mAh battery and sports a polycarbonate back along with an aluminum frame.
