NASSCOM to Spearhead ICT Session at the Smart Cities India 2015 Expo

smart-citiesAdoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will ensure efficient use of resources, socio-economic development, and help transform India into a country of digitally connected cities. Supporting the Smart Cities vision and Digital India program, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) is the technology partner for the Smart Cities India 2015 expo.

Organized by the Exhibitions India Pvt. Ltd., the expo is scheduled to be held at PragatiMaidan, New Delhi, from 20th to 22nd May 2015. The focus of the expo is ‘Smarter Solutions for a Better Tomorrow.’

Smart IT and communications is the nerve center for smart cities to improve the lives of citizens in urban and rural areas by means of sustainable integrated solutions.

To facilitate dialogue between the government stakeholders for smart cities including central and state government officials, municipal commissioners, mayors, city planners, architects, builders and IT industry leaders, NASSCOM is spearheading 3 important sessions at the expo. These sessions are:

Smart Cities Foundation : Fabric of converged technologies
ICT enabling Indian cities – Opportunities and challenges in brownfield cities-perspectives from industry and government and
Citizen centric services in a smart city – a new paradigm
The NASSCOM sessions will discuss a range of topics on innovative technology and solutions to support the governments’ ambitious plans to create 100 smart cities and rejuvenate 500 existing cities. The Indian cabinet has recently approved a sum of Rs. 48,000 crore for the smart Cities mission in the next five years. The center will provide assistance of Rs. 100 crore per year for five years to each of 100 cities.

Smart Cities India 2015 expo is a platform for global industry leaders to come together in order to present and exchange information on nine focused verticals, including; Smart Governance, Smart Energy, Smart Environment, Smart Transportation, Smart Information Technology & Communications, Smart Buildings, Smart Health, and Smart Education.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Department Industrial Policy & Promotion and Department of Electronics & Information Technology, the exhibition cum conference will observe 34 sessions being conducted by 250+ distinguished speakers comprising of the world’s foremost strategists, bureaucrats, policy makers, as well as thought leaders and trend setters. The event will also witness 15,000 visitors, along with 1,500 delegates over three days.

Apart from concurrent conference sessions, the expo will witness an exhibition arena featuring leading domestic and international companies showcasing their products and services to a large number of buyers, industry representatives, center, state and local body officials with industry representatives, town and city planners, architects, realtors, academia, students and media, etc.
