Motorola announces MWC 2017 event date, may launch Moto G5

After Huawei and Nokia, Motorola too has announced that it will be holding a pre-MWC 2017 event on the same date as the other two – February 26. The invites being sent to media show a generic s56539225martphone along with the date, local time and ‘Hello Moto’ text caption. Of course, the Lenovo-owned company has mentioned nothing about the handset it will be launching. But according to some recent rumours and leaks, we may see the G5 getting launched. Recently, a listing on OLX’s Romania website showed the Moto G5 Plus in all its glory. For those unaware, the handset will replace last year’s Moto G4 Plus.
According to the OLX post, the Moto G5 Plus bears model number XT1685 and runs Android 7.0 Nougat OS. As per the listed specifications, the smartphone has a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. Other specifications include a storage capacity of 32GB and a 3,080mAh battery.
On the camera front, the smartphone has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter. The smartphone’s listing also displays a “Motorola confidential property, not for sale” written on it. As per the OLX poster, the smartphone will go on sale sometime in March this year.
The same smartphone recently showed up in a render video. It highlighted two important features – a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port. Below the display, there is a ‘pill-shaped’ Home button, which may come embedded with a fingerprint sensor.
As for the camera, the large bump, which characterizes Motorola’s latest set of smartphones in the Z series, is still visible but appears to be a little larger.
