MobiKwik Launches India’s e-Rupee as First Digital Wallet to Support New Currency

In a landmark move for digital payments in India, MobiKwik has become the first digital wallet to fully integrate India’s e-rupee (e₹), in partnership with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Yes Bank. This collaboration marks a significant step toward the widespread adoption of central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the country.

With the launch of e₹, users can now make transactions via UPI QR codes for a seamless, fast, and secure payment experience. The e-rupee promises to provide a cashless and frictionless alternative to traditional currency, combining the convenience of digital wallets with the security of government-backed currency. By integrating the e₹ into its platform, MobiKwik has set a new benchmark for digital payment solutions in India.

The move is seen as a critical step in the digitalization of India’s economy, offering an efficient and regulated payment method for consumers and businesses alike. The e₹ will provide an additional layer of security and trust for users, as it operates under the oversight of the RBI, ensuring safe and reliable transactions.

In addition to the ease of using UPI QR codes, the introduction of e₹ offers instant settlement and eliminates the need for intermediaries, making digital payments even more cost-effective. This move is expected to encourage more people to adopt digital currency, contributing to India’s growing move towards a cashless society.

With this major milestone, MobiKwik is at the forefront of India’s e-rupee revolution, reshaping how payments are made in the country while driving financial inclusion and technological innovation.
