Microsoft’s Cortana comes to Skype

Us-based tech giant Microsoft has announced that its virtual assistant Cortana will now be available on its video communication tool Skype. According to Microsoft’s official blogpost, this feature will be available starting today for both iOS and Android users in the United States, but there is no information about it coming to India as of now.
Post this integration, Cortana will be able to provide in-context assistance in your chat and provide information on topics such as restaurant options or movie reviews. It can also detect if you are planning a meeting and will recommend setting up a reminder, which you will receive on all your Cortana-enabled devices. In addition to this, Cortana will also suggest smart replies based upon your on-going conversation.
Besides acting as an assistant to your conversations, Cortana will also be available as a separate contact. You can ask it about anything and it will reply the same way it does on your other Cortana-enabled devices.
Microsoft’s Skype had received a major revamp back in June, as the company tried to make it more competitive against the likes of Google Duo, WhatsApp, Instagram and Snapchat, with improved UI and features.
The new app, as Microsoft had claimed at the time of the launch, has been built from the ground up. The VoIP messenger now makes it easy for users to chat with groups in a more lively and expressive manner.
The revamped Skype app comes with features such as personalized chats, possibility to react on messages or a video call and a ‘Highlights’ tab lets users create a ‘highlight reel’ of their day with photos and videos to share with others in their list.
