Redmond-based tech giant Microsoft seems to have its plans ready for gamers this year. The company is reportedly planning to launch the successor to its Xbox One gaming console, dubbed ‘Project Scorpio,’ later this year.
According to a report on OnMsft website, Xbox Project Scorpio will be 4K resolution-ready and have VR compatibility. Reports from other sources point to a Christmas 2017 release.
In a tweet, Aaron Greenberg, head of Xbox marketing, declared 2017 as the year of Project Scorpio.
In addition, Josh Stein, community manager for Microsoft Studios, further added fuel to the news by tweeting to his followers whether they were excited about the ‘year of the Scorpio’. It was accompanied by a dancing gif image.
‘Welcome to the year of the Scorpio! Are you excited… #ProjectScorpio #Xbox pic.twitter.com/kiXPkVrRnos’ reads his tweet.
As a result of these, followers and fans started re-tweeting and asking Phil Spencer, Head of XBox (product) about more information related to the project. In his reply, Spencer maintained that people should not go overboard.
In a reply to one of his followers he said, ‘@BeastFireTimdog Going to be a good year. Work to do on games, platform, XBL and hardware, fun times. I’m waiting to hype until we show games’.
