Micron initiates the building of a semiconductor packaging facility worth $2.75 billion in Sanand

Micron, the US chip-making giant, has commenced construction of its $2.75 billion semiconductor testing and packaging plant in Gujarat’s Sanand industrial area.

The project is being built in phases, with Phase 1 expected to be operational by late 2024.

The total cost of the plant includes $825 million from Micron and the remaining funding from the government in two phases.

Tata Projects has been contracted for the plant’s construction.

The project aims to support India’s semiconductor ecosystem and manufacturing infrastructure, benefiting from Gujarat’s conducive business environment and established talent pool.
