Meta has been made to take down its AI Bot after it cited a fake research paper

As a result of allegations that its artificial intelligence (AI) bot used phoney research articles, Meta is now dealing with fresh problems. Due to complaints from users, Meta was had to deactivate its AI bot, Galactica.

According to sources, Meta created the bot after teaching it with 106 billion tokens of freely accessible scientific material and data. Galactica has been accused of publishing fraudulent research, which has been brought up repeatedly. Given all the difficulties the firm has had lately, Meta really didn’t need this headache. The AI bot’s ability to create bogus studies and yet give them legitimate researcher credit is another concerning aspect of it.

The AI Bot was introduced by Meta earlier this month, but less than a week after it went live, the business was obliged to remove it. Yann LeCunn, an AI scientist at Meta, tweeted on this, implying that people may have misunderstood the tweet’s entire aim.

He discusses how the AI Bot can no longer be used for lighthearted entertainment. The community, who argued that Meta should outline a clear path for something known as an AI Bot, obviously didn’t like that aspect. While Google continues to develop AI that genuinely changes the industry, Meta is on the other side. The public may now sign up to interact with Google’s experimental artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, which was built using the company’s contentious language model.

Early LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) previews, Google has already stated, “may display erroneous or inappropriate content.” Google’s “AI Test Kitchen” app allows users to learn about, test out, and provide comments on the company’s cutting-edge AI technologies.

Just another newsworthy headline that Meta employees would obviously wish to avoid. After all, the business has already made headlines after laying off nearly 10,000 employees due to lowered sales expectations. Additionally, the CEO of Xbox questioned the metaverse, saying it resembled a shoddy video game, and the metaverse is under fire from all sides.
