LG G Pro 2 launched in India at Rs 51,500

LG has launched its large-screen smartphone, G Pro 2, in the Indian market at Rs 51,500. The phone is already available online through ecommerce retailers at a lower price. It was announced during the Mobile World Congress, in February.

LG G Pro 2 sports a 5.9-inch Full -HD (1920x1080p) IPS display and boasts of a 3.3mm narrow bezel. It is powered by a 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 3GB RAM. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat with LG’s custom UI running on top. The phone also includes a feature called Knock Code, which lets users unlock the phone by tapping the phone in a specified manner.

“We launched the G Pro last year in the Indian market and received an exceptionally favorable response from consumers. Following the success of the G Pro, we are launching the new G Pro 2, with enhanced features, based on the feedback of our consumers. The year 2014, is going to be an exciting year, as LG plans to bring out a string of innovative devices, which will capture the imagination of users. By year end, we intend to take on 10% share of the Indian smart phone market.”, said Soon Kwon, MD, LG India.

LG G Pro 2 sports a 13MP rear camera with support for Optical Image Stabilization plus, along with an LED flash, and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. Other camera features include 120fps HD video, slow motion video, and 4K Ultra HD recording. The phone comes with 32GB internal storage and a microSD card slot for expanding storage capacity. It features a 3200mAh removable battery.

In terms of connectivity, LG G Pro 2 offers Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC and GPS.

The phone will compete with Samsung’s flagship phablet, Galaxy Note 3, which is available at Rs. 47,900.
