Lenovo ThinkStation P5, P7, and PX revealed with Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon scalable CPUs

The ThinkStation P5, P7, and dual-socket PX workstations have been revealed by Lenovo. The new Lenovo Computers have a chassis with an iconic Aston Martin design and an Intel Sapphire Rapids Xeon processor. Some of the versions have up to 120 cores thanks to the scalable CPU architecture. The Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada GPUs are also included with the new PCs.

While the P7 and PX have Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada GPUs, the Lenovo ThinkStation P5 has the Nvidia RTX A6000 built on Ampere. The three new Lenovo workstations are the most potent series the OEM has ever launched based on their specifications. Performance and aesthetics are combined in the latest models.

The ThinkStation P5, P7, and PX chassis will feature the Aston Martin styling thanks to the partnership with Aston Martin. The models’ 3D grill frames were modelled after the Aston Martin DBS. The three-channel cooling system from Lenovo as well as newly designed air baffles and 3D hexagonal outlets are also included.

A 24-core Intel Xeon W-2400 CPU powers the Lenovo ThinkStation P5. The storage capacity can approach 34 TB NVMe and/or 312 TB SATA, and the processor supports 64 PCIe Gen 5 lanes. The ECC memory can also be expanded to 512GB.

The ThinkStation P7 CPU provides the greatest single-socket configuration performance with up to 56 cores. The most expensive option is the Lenovo ThinkStation PX. It has two sockets, and the CPU can support up to 120 cores. Additionally, compared to the P5 and P7, it has substantial memory and storage improvements. The ThinkStation PX has an extra 10GbE LAN that the other versions do not.

The workstations will be utilised by Aston Martin for automotive research and development as part of the Lenovo-Aston Martin partnership. All three computers have Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 vPro. Ubuntu and Windows 11 Pro for Desktop are already installed on them. Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows 10 Enterprise are also supported by the platforms.

By the end of May 2023, the three new Lenovo laptops are anticipated to hit the market. Lenovo has not yet disclosed the prices for the versions.
