South Korean automobile giants, KIA revealed the first look of their brand new electric car – the EV6. This was released post their teaser which was released last week, where they showcased a few shadowy images of the vehicle. The full details won’t be revealed until their online event which is slated for the end of the month but these images do give an idea of what the car will look like.

The EV6 consists of a clamshell bonnet up front, along with the new logo. There are also angular headlights that are on either side of the front grille. The headlights also feature the LED daytime running lights which will form the “Digital Tiger Face” of the car. This signature is also a progression of the “Tiger Nose Grille” that Kia initiated during the electrified era. The lower front bumper also has an air intake area which also channels the air right under the car for the best aerodynamics.

Kia has designed the EV6 in a highly sporty-inspired design, and the car also uses a design philosophy that Kia has dubbed, “Opposites United.” The philosophy consists of five pillars – “Joy for Reason”, “Power to Progress”, “Technology for Life”, “Bold for Nature” and “Tension for Serenity”. The chief designer, Karim Habib elucidated the meaning of these in his video, where he said,

“The EV6 is our first Electric Vehicle designed to be human-centered, designed progressively and powered electrically. We believe the EV6 is a compelling and relevant model for the EV market,” he said in a statement. “The EV6 is aimed at creating an impactful and distinctive design that uses a mix of high-tech, sophisticated features on rich and pure volumes while providing a unique space as an EV that is futuristic.”

Dedicated battery electric vehicle:

The EV6 is described as a “dedicated battery electric vehicle” as it has both gas/hybrid models and the newer electric drivetrain. The EV6 is also built around Kia’s parent company Hyundai’s E-GMP platform.

The full technical details of the EV6 aren’t out yet and will be so once it is officially released. Kia says they will reveal the date soon, with reports suggesting that it should be around the end of March.
