Kaspersky Internet Security proves its reliability in independent testing

kaspersky-logoKaspersky Labis proud to announcethat Kaspersky Internet Security2013and Kaspersky Internet Security2014, two versions of its flagship home consumer products,earned high scores in AV-TEST’s latest Bi-Monthly Certification. The products got 17 of a possible 18 points from the independent experts for their ability to counteract cyber-threats during the July-August test period.

The tests assessed three factors for each product: efficiency of malware detection, impact on regular computer performance and the number of false positives.

Both Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and Kaspersky Internet Security2014 were involved because the timing of the test coincided with the launch of Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 at the end of August. In total, 26security solutions from leading market players took part in the AV-TESTtesting.

In the malware detectiontest Kaspersky Lab’s products identified 100% of the 19,500 malware sampleschosen by the test organization. The selected threats had all been seen in the wild within the four weeks prior to the test.

A further125newthreats, not currently listed in the antivirus databases of the solutions being tested, gave participants the chance to show how they could counter unknown malware. Over the course of the two months, Kaspersky Internet Security achieved 97.5% effectiveness, against an industry average of 91%.

Kaspersky Internet Security2013and Kaspersky Internet Security2014receivedthe highest scorein the Usability category,which includesthenumber of falsepositives. Kaspersky Lab productsreturned just threefalsepositivescompared to an industry average of seven.

In addition,Kaspersky Lab products scored 5.5out of6 in thePerformancetest whichmeasuresthe product’s impacton PC performance. This was against anaveragescore of 4 points. The overall test results saw Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and 2014 earn the ‘Certified’ award.

Kaspersky Lab products regularlyappear at the top end ofantivirusrankings.In August,Kaspersky Internet Security2014successfully detected allthreatsin theReal-World Protection Testby theindependent AV-Comparatives laboratory.In another testby that laboratorythe sameproductwas able to block99% ofphishing URLs–a result only one competitor solution could match.
