iOS 8 Users Will Also Have To Wait For HealthKit App

iOS 8 users will also have to wait for another app – Continuity – the messaging app, as it will not be available before October.

ios_8_iphone_6_rumoured_screenshot_weibo1It Voice News-Apple has recently released their iOS 8 update with a whole lot of new and  exciting features. The most exciting feature among the whole lot is its HealthKit app, which  is a tool to track health and fitness and the data will be kept in a single location on your iOS  device. Similar apps like MyFitnessPal, WebMD and Carrot Fit were also launched, soon to  be pulled back though. This confusion has been cleared by Apple in an official clarification.

According to WIRED, an Apple spokesperson said, “We discovered a bug that prevents us  from making HealthKit apps available on iOS 8 today. We’re working speedily to have the  bug fixed in a software update and have HealthKit apps available by the end of the month.”  The HealthKit app was first announced in June.

With this app, developers are looking forward to tap into data, which was earlier limited to certain apps. Peter Hames, co-founder of Sleepio, the new sleep tracking app, told WIRED, “We really believe that HealthKit has the potential to transform how people look after their health.”

Sleepio can use data only when it’s gathered from the iPhone, its own hardware and so on. But HealthKit will allow tapping into data outside iOS device too like Fitbits and the Jawbone Up. A collaboration was expected between HealthKit and Strava, which tracks activities like running and cycling through GPS and accelerometer. iOS 8 will also extend wait for another app – Continuity – the messaging app, as it will not be available before October.
