Instagram is introducing a feature akin to Stories for Reels

Instagram has revealed its initiation of a feature previously restricted to Stories, which will allow users to include song lyrics in their Reels. Adam Mossari, head of Instagram, conveyed this announcement on his channel, highlighting the integration of song lyrics into Reels similarly to the Stories function. Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, also confirmed this feature’s introduction.

Similar to the process in Stories, users can generate a Reel by tapping the ‘+’ icon, selecting “Audio” to add a song, and then swiping left to incorporate lyrics. Mossari aims to streamline the use of music for self-expression by implementing these features, acknowledging users’ manual inclusion of lyrics in their Reels.

This function has been under development for a while and was initially unveiled as a test earlier this year. Its availability expanded to more countries by August. The announcement follows recent reports about Instagram working on an “AI friend” feature. The proposed tool will allow users to tailor an “AI friend” to their preferences and engage in conversation.

This “AI friend” appears to operate as a chatbot capable of answering queries, discussing challenges, and brainstorming ideas. Users may customize this virtual companion by choosing its gender, age, ethnicity, personality, and interests, shaping the nature and style of conversations.

The update regarding the addition of song lyrics to Reels was made in the context of Instagram’s continual expansion of features, demonstrating a broader interest in enhancing user engagement through diversified functions and AI-driven innovations.
