India to have 500m mobile users by end of this year

According to a latest GSMA report, India will have over half a billion unique mobile subscribers by the end of 2015 which accounts for 13 per cent of the world’s mobile population
The interesting fact that came from the reports is that only 11per cent of mobile connections in 2014 were on 3G while majority of the mobile population is still on 2G.
The market is now swiftly migrating to mobile broadband technology like 3G or 4G,as a result reports predicts the number to rise to 42 per cent by 2020 when 690 million Indians will be smartphone users.
In order to digitise the country, India will require a regulatory framework and approach to spectrum that encourages investment and innovation.
