Tech giant IBM will provide cloud services to online education services company ‘Extramarks’ in India. City-based Extramarks provides smart classroom and e-tutorials services to schools and educational institutions.

“Extramarks has selected IBM SoftLayer cloud to expand and grow its educational content business. Using IBM SoftLayer cloud, Extramarks aims to significantly improve the delivery of media rich, critical educational content to thousands of K-12 students across 250 locations in India,” IBM said in a statement.

In a three-year engagement, Extramarks has chosen IBM SoftLayer cloud for its Extramarks Live, an e-tutorial platform that offers a wide range of content for different national and state level curricula, it added.

The programme currently has 700,000 students enrolled and enables users to connect with the learning material at their own convenience. The material is customised to facilitate learning as per a student’s capability.

Specialised digital content developed by Extramarks and delivered through technology enabled classrooms are used by teachers to provide a visually rich medium of instruction. In addition to in-school curriculum support, it also provides after school tutorial support via the internet.
