HP and Google have announced plans to produce Chromebooks in India as part of the “Make in India” initiative

HP, in partnership with Google, is set to manufacture Chromebooks in Tamil Nadu, India, as part of the “Make in India” initiative.

The devices will be produced at the Flex Facility near Chennai. HP has been assembling various PC products in India since August 2020.

This move aims to support digital education initiatives in India, making affordable PCs more accessible to students.

The production of Chromebooks is expected to start on October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.

This development aligns with the Indian government’s efforts to encourage local manufacturing of large electronics products.
