How to switch between Facebook profiles on desktop

Do you have multiple Facebook accounts? Or do you share your computer/laptop with someone and both of you are logged in to Facebook with the same device? Or do you have a profile particularly for work and one personal Facebook profile?

Whatever the case may be, if you use the same device as someone else for accessing Facebook, then you would be happy to know that the social networking platform has made it easy to switch between two accounts. However, note that this can only be done on desktop and not on the app.

Facebook for desktop now has an Account Switcher button which appears right next to your profile name. The feature lets you add up to ten profiles to your device, so it should prove to be useful for family members who share a computer for logging in to Facebook.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can do it:
Step 1: Log in to Facebook.

Step 2: Click on the Account Switcher button next to your profile name.

Step 3: Select Add Account. This will take you to the Login page.

Step 4: Add your email address/phone number and password.

Step 5: You can either select remember password if you wish to switch accounts without logging in again and again. However, you can skip that option if you want to add an extra layer of security.

Step 6: Post this, you’ll see both the accounts on clicking the Account Switcher button. Just select the account you wish to log in to. Note that the account you are logged in to will be marked with a green dot on top right.

Just in case you change your mind later and don’t wish to keep more than one account on your computer, you’ll be happy to know that it’s very easy to change this. Just click the Account Switcher button and select the small ‘X’ on top right of the account you want to remove. That will do the needful.
