Honor 9 to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack: Report

Huawei is said to be working on a new smartphone under its Honor series, likely to be called Honor 9. And if the latest rumour is to be believed, the smartphone won’t have a 3.5mm audio jack.
According to a report by Tech Point website, Honor 9 won’t have a 3.5mm audio jack. Instead, it’ll have a USB Type-C port at the bottom, along with speaker grille(s). The smartphone is also expected to have a dual-camera setup at its back, just like its predecessor.
The report further suggests that the Honor 9 will come with a reflective back panel and have a fingerprint sensor on the front. It is expected to be powered by the company’s own Kirin 960 processor and have a 3,000mAh battery. The customization key of Honor 8 is unlikely to be carried forward.
Recently, Huawei started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for its Honor 6X smartphone in India. Apart from the latest Android version, the update also brings EMUI 5.0 to the smartphone.
Android 7.0 Nougat includes features like multi-window support, instant replies, better notifications, battery improvements and more. The latest version of Huawei’s UI layer – EMUI 5.0 comes with its own set of features such as an app drawer and twin app support – with the latter allowing users to login with two accounts in apps like Facebook and WhatsApp.
For those unaware, Huawei Honor 6X comes in two variants based on RAM. While the 3GB RAM version has a price tag of Rs 12,999, the 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 15,999. The Honor 6X features a 5.5-inch Full-HD display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution with 2.5D curved glass support. It’s powered by Huawei’s own octa-core Kirin 655 SoC, paired with a Mali T830-MP2 GPU.
