Google Meet has launched its 360-degree photo sphere-like virtual backgrounds

Although one can never be too sure when they might need to make a video call, virtual backdrops frequently come to the rescue. Since their debut, they have developed, performing admirably on the top video calling apps even without a dedicated green screen. With the addition of 360-degree video backdrops for Google Meet on mobile, Google is now taking things a step further.

Smartphones, unlike the majority of computers, are equipped with a number of sensors, including a gyroscope. This gyroscope data may be used by Meet to create a few virtual backgrounds that move around when your phone moves, simulating being in the centre of a Picture Sphere taken with Google Camera. The 360-degree video backgrounds can simulate a natural scene in your background without any interruptions and change dynamically.

According to Google, there are a number of alternatives, including beach and temple scenes. With Meet for Android, you can access the new backgrounds alongside other interactive virtual backgrounds in the Effects settings tab.

While having a live video background can be more interesting and colourful than a static image and far more private than a background that has been artificially blurred, it might not be the best option if you frequently move your phone about during meetings.

Having said that, everyone with a Gmail account is now able to use the new 360-degree virtual backdrops. But, administrators can disable virtual backdrops for members of their organisational group, including the brand-new 360-degree video backgrounds, through the Google Admin Console. Hold your horses if you are in a similar situation as it may take up to a month for the most recent addition to appear and it isn’t yet available on any of our devices.
