Google Calendar now compatible with smartwatches

Google introduced the native Gmail and Calendar apps for Wear OS earlier this year at its Google I/O event, and now the Calendar app has been released for Wear OS smartwatches. The app is accessible via the Google Play Store on smartwatches running Wear OS 4 or newer, which offers an easy-to-navigate interface and displays an agenda of upcoming events. However, it lacks a month or week view, limiting some of the functionality commonly found in the Calendar app on other devices.

The Google Calendar app for smartwatches is linked to the user’s Google account, syncing all calendar entries across devices connected to the same account. Users can click on each entry to view additional details and have the option to add reminders and locations. However, editing entries is not possible on the smartwatch and needs to be done on a phone, web interface, or other devices.

Similar to the Gmail app introduced recently, the Calendar app also features watch face complications. It displays two titles: one showing the next calendar event and the other displaying the next tasks from Google Tasks.

To install the Google Calendar app on your smartwatch, simply open the Play Store on the watch, search for the Google Calendar app, and install it. The app will then automatically link to the Google Account associated with the smartwatch.

This development aligns with Google’s efforts to enhance the Wear OS experience and provide more utility for smartwatch users, enabling them to access important information and stay organized while on the go.
