Goa will get Next-Gen Network in 2017

The Union Communications and IT minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad made a recent announcement regarding the launch of ‘Next Generation Network’ through major cities including Maharashtra and Goa during 2017.
The next-gen network will be focusing on improved broadband quality as well as connectivity. The minister emphasized that “In fiscal 2016-17, we will have 4 lakh connections in Maharashtra under ‘Next Generation Network’ (NGN).”
The network is going to be implemented in Pune, Nagpur, Nasik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Kalyan, Nanded as well as Goa. There will also be about 174 wi-fi hot-spots installed in 58 cities in Maharashtra.
Apart from these, there is also going to be a new prepaid mobile intelligence network which is going to be set up in Pune to offer newer services to prepaid customers.
