The opening session featured H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, who spoke on “The Race Beyond Innovation: AI, Geopolitics, and the Global Economic Reset.” He highlighted the UAE’s strategic focus on innovation, economic diversification, and knowledge-driven technology adoption as key drivers positioning the nation at the forefront of global economic leadership.
Panel discussions explored deep-tech ecosystems and their global impact. Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation at the European Commission, and Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute, delved into how startups and scale-ups influence national economies. Zaharieva noted the shared vision between the UAE and the EU in fostering innovation for societal benefit.
The “Intelligence Super-Cycle” session examined AI’s role as a critical economic infrastructure of the century, featuring Hon. Evan Solomon, Canada’s Minister for AI and Digital Innovation, and Amandeep Gill, UN Envoy for Digital Technologies. They emphasized the importance of collaboration and ethical AI development. Meanwhile, Andrew Feldman, CEO of Cerebras, discussed achieving record-breaking AI inferencing speeds through the development of the world’s largest AI training supercomputer, showcasing breakthroughs in high-performance computing.
On the exhibition floor, global tech companies unveiled transformative solutions. e& showcased over 90 innovations spanning mobility, robotics, digital healthcare, and consumer technology, including eVTOL prototypes and electric vehicles with record-range capabilities. Oracle demonstrated AI-driven enterprise solutions for finance and supply-chain management, while BlackBerry launched a mission-critical communications platform certified for government and banking sectors. AWS highlighted cloud solutions with embedded cybersecurity and operational efficiency, and HCL Software displayed generative AI-powered tools for real-time website and application customization, along with enhanced cybersecurity and endpoint management platforms.
International participation reached new heights, with Brazil joining as Country Partner with its largest-ever delegation. National pavilions from Canada, Spain, Türkiye, Chile, and Ecuador, along with expanded representation from Europe, Central Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Levant, emphasized GITEX GLOBAL’s status as a truly global platform.
Looking ahead, Day Two features a virtual conversation between Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, discussing AI-Native Societies. Senior leaders from G42, OpenAI, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, and other prominent organizations will continue to explore nation-scale AI strategies and innovation-driven collaboration.
