GEO, Tatung And Shaspa Introduce Cloud-Based Camera Solution For Smart Home

GEO Semiconductor Inc., a semiconductor and software company specializing in camera and projection solutions, and Shaspa, a leading provider of a service delivery framework for smart building projects, today announced the introduction of the iamus HD Cam solution for the smart home.

The iamus HD Cam solution enables users to view live video and audio of their home through an application on any iOS and Android smartphone or tablet. It also detects motion and sound, which are recorded to the cloud and a notification is sent to the user. The solution is effectively utilized for home monitoring, home security or infant care.

“The combination of GEO’s unique image and video processing technologies and Shaspa’s software and connectivity will enable service providers and OEMs to deliver world-class solutions to their customers. The smart home cloud camera is an exploding market that is expected to create broad opportunities for our technology,” stated Mr. Brian Gannon, VP of Marketing of GEO Semiconductor.

The iamus HD Cam solution includes the camera hardware, camera firmware, cloud connectivity and applications for both iOS and Android for easy deployment. The solution is capable of supporting video resolutions from VGA to HD and lens angles from 65° to ultra-wide angle “fisheye” using GEO’s patented wide-angle technology in the new GW3000 series geometric processing engines.

“Tatung believes cloud-service enabled devices are the future for the industry. Capable of connecting to the Shaspa’s Service Framework, the high performance camera enabled by GEO’s advanced technologies has marked a milestone in our product development roadmap. Now we are able to speak of a seamlessly integrated solution for clients aiming at deployment of residential and commercial applications,” said Wen K. Lin, President of Tatung. She further commented, “The joint solution can be easily tailored as per client’s needs. This is key to success. We are pleased to see the synergy created by 3 companies though our collaboration.”
