Facebook To Mentor Startups In India

Under the initiative, they will provide developers building apps and mobile websites for users who are “new-to-internet.”

facebook logoThrough an application process, Nasscom will invite developers and students under the ‘Leaders Building for the Next Billion Program.’

Under the initiative, 10 developers from among those applied will be selected. They will be provided with financial support, technical, leadership and marketing skills to build their applications and businesses, Nasscom said in a statement.

Facebook is the first partner for the initiative and will fund the creation of this track at ‘Nasscom 10,000 Startups’. It welcomes partnerships with other technology leaders to strengthen and expand the programme.

Social gaint will provide $80,000 worth of support through FBStart programme. It will also provide additional ad credits to build developer’s business.

As a part of future plan, Nasscom will further be connected to industry leaders like CEOs, VCs, thought leaders, ecosystem evangelists, funders and the media to bring public attention to their solutions, commitment and impact. The aim is to inspire many other developers to build innovative solutions for new-to-internet users.

India has one of the world’s largest internet user base. A majority of new users come online through their mobile devices.
