Facebook To Introduce A Business-To-Consumer Chat Function Via WhatsApp

facebook_reuters-1With an aim to increase its usage, the popular cross-platform mobile messaging app WhatsApp is all set to expand its platform to enable businesses to interact with their customers. World’s largest social networking site Facebook, which acquired WhatsApp for US$22 billion last year, has apparently confirmed the news in a recently held conference.

“We think that enabling that B2C messaging has good business potential for us. As we learn those things, I think there’s going to be opportunities to bring some of those things to WhatsApp, but that’s more longer-term than the near-term,” announced David Wehner, chief financial officer, Facebook in a JPMorgan technology conference, according to a report published in Bloomberg.

As Facebook has now emerged as a marketplace, an integrated WhatsApp could help the popular social networking site to catalyse the business-to-consumer interaction. With 800 million users, the popular messaging app has grown rapidly. However, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Facebook believes that WhatsApp could start to become a significant business after crossing 1 billion users worldwide. Meanwhile, keeping its promise during the acquisition, WhatsApp still remains ad free.
