F-Secure Extending Privacy Protection Efforts to Step-up Fight for Digital Freedom

New Freedome offering will give Mac OS X users a one-button tool to protect their online privacy.

F-Secure-logoF-Secure is expanding their fight for digital freedom to new fronts by releasing a new version of its Freedome privacy protection application. The new version, called Freedome for Mac, was preannounced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 1. The new Freedome offering will bring the popular VPN to computers running Apple’s OS X software this summer.

The Internet provides people with a wealth of content and services right at their fingertips. However, recent trends in digital surveillance are preventing people from enjoying this wealth. According to a recent study by the GfK research firm, 88% of those polled were concerned about the privacy of their personal data, and 48% reported avoiding the use of certain digital services because of these concerns.

“People are being forced to give up more and more of their personal data in order to access many of the services offered online”, says Samu Konttinen, Executive Vice President, Consumer Security at F-Secure. “People might be more aware of this today than they have been in the past, but they’re still concerned because they’re constantly required to sacrifice control over their privacy if they want to enjoy their online experience.”

F-Secure’s Freedome is a user-friendly VPN that helps people protect themselves against unwanted digital surveillance. By giving people a one-button tool to identify malware, disable unauthorized tracking and change their virtual location in order to access their favorite content while browsing, they can enjoy their digital freedom without risking their privacy or leaving digital footprints to follow. Freedome is now available for Android, iOS and Windows PC users, but Freedome for Mac will extend this support to include devices running Apple’s OS X.

Konttinen expects the new offering to be a hit with users based on the positive reception its interface has received on other platforms. “Freedome’s one-button interface gives users a simple tool to help them enjoy being online. It’s an elegant solution that addresses people’s privacy concerns, and we’re now happy to offer Freedome’s premium online experience to more users”.

F-Secure is an industry leader in providing people with online protection, and their technology has won AV-TEST’s Best Protection award for the past four years. The Windows PC, iOS and Android versions of Freedome are currently available for a free 14-day trial download from F-Secure’s website. Freedome for Mac was unveiled at F-Secure’s MobileFocus Global event at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 1, and will be rolled out during the second quarter of 2015.
