Ericsson Is All Set To Join Hands With Reliance Jio

Sweden based communications technology and services provider ericsson logoEricsson is all set to join hands with Reliance Jio to provide seamless video viewing on mobile phones. With such a tie-up, the firm is aiming to boost its market share from 10 per cent to 15 per cent by 2017.

According to a report published in Times of India, Chris Houghton, head, India region, has confirmed that he is in conversation with Reliance to launch an entire range of Ericsson’s products and services.

Ericsson has predicted that there will be 50 billion connected devices by 2020 globally. It also said that among these 50 billion devices, 15 billion is expected to be video enabled.

While maintaining the highest quality of viewing experience, Ericsson enables operators to significantly boost the number of channels being offered to users.

Meanwhile, the Swedish tech firm has also revealed its plans to collaborate with Sun TV and Tata Sky. If all goes as anticipated, the collaboration will let Sun TV to reach 95 million subscriber households with a higher quality broadcast. On the other hand, Tata Sky is also looking towards expanding its entire DTH platform to a new system encoder from Ericsson. With an investment of USD 15 million, the firm is also planning to establish a telecom equipment plant in Pune.
