Elon Musk introduces ‘Grok,’ an AI chatbot rival to ChatGPT known for its wit and conversational abilities

Elon Musk has introduced the debut AI model from his company, xAI, called Grok, showcasing its capabilities similar to popular language models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Musk previewed Grok to a select audience, drawing attention to its unique feature—real-time access to information via his social media platform, X, previously known as Twitter.

Musk emphasized that Grok stands out due to its direct access to current information, an advantage distinguishing it from other language models. He highlighted this in a post, stating, “Grok benefits from real-time information through the 𝕏 platform, offering a significant edge compared to other models.”

In a recent demonstration, Musk shared an example of the chatbot’s personality, featuring an image where a user requested a step-by-step guide on making cocaine. The bot responded with a blend of humor and caution, joking about the request’s illegality and dangers.

Musk praised Grok’s witty and sarcastic nature, emphasizing its unique traits. He humorously expressed uncertainty about the AI’s influences, depicting a screenshot of a user’s question to Gork.

Alongside his appreciation for the AI’s clever personality, Musk commended Grok’s performance, indicating it’s currently among the top language model options. He remarked on X, “In certain critical aspects, it is currently one of the premier choices.”

At present, Grok’s availability is restricted to a specific user group, with Musk aiming to make xAI’s language model accessible to all X Premium+ subscribers.
