Education startup Metis Learning, in partnership with Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), on Wednesday launched the Creativity Tablet and Ben 10 Tablet for children under its Eddy brand at Rs. 8,999 and Rs. 9,999 respectively. The tablets are exclusively available via company’s online store or Amazon India with limited period launch offers and discounts worth Rs. 4,000.
Both tablets – the Eddy Creativity Tablet and Eddy Ben 10 Tablet – are meant for kids aged three years and above. The operating system is the company’s proprietary Athena OS, based on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). Metis Learning says the tablets also come preloaded with hundreds of books, activities, apps, videos and learning games from leading international app developers. Other than the re-installed apps, parents can also download new apps on it from over 50,000 educational apps available at Google Play, says company. Additionally, the tablet carries more than 180 activities from the popular kids’ show M.A.D (Music, Art and Dance).
The 7-inch 1024×600 pixel resolution displays on both tablets are ophthalmologist approved and have been designed to provide protection from UV rays. The scratch-proof screens are impact resistant, with a 9H hardness level and includes a drop-safe bumper to prevent damage from falls.
The processor on both kids’ tablets is the Intel Atom Z2520 (1M cache, 1.20 GHz, 2 cores, 4 threads) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. It also includes a primary 2-megapixel rear camera and a secondary 2-megapixel front camera. Other specifications of the tablets include 2800mAh battery, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G via dongle.
Commenting on the launch, Bharat Gulia, Co-Founder of Eddy said, “We build technology for young superstars. In every child there could be a reading superstar, a creativity superstar, a tech superstar, a math superstar or some other inherent talent. Our tablets provide excellent and fun content to bring out and nurture the superstar that lies in every child. Instead of spending thousands of rupees on toys, video games and other merchandise, parents can gift their kids one of these tablets that not only provide unlimited learning and entertainment, but are also much safer compared to any other tablet.”
Siddharth Jain, Managing Director, South Asia, Turner International India, added, “Through Cartoon Network Enterprises, we have always aimed to extend the traditional notions of licensing and merchandising. The Creativity and Ben 10 tablets will not only entertain kids with games and videos but will also provide an impetus to learning new skills and garner knowledge in a fun and familiar tech-based environment.”
