Dr Ajay Data on world internet body ICANN ccNSO Council member

Jaipur, Rajasthan based IT entrepreneur Dr. Ajay Data has been nominated as the board of the Council for Country Code Name Support Organisation (ccNSO). He be came’s first Indian to be appointed on board of the international body of top level domain managers to discuss issues of topical concern and develop policies for safe management of internet. Officially he will take his position at the 63 annual general meeting of Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) which will take place at Barcelona, Spain, scheduled for 20 October – 25 October 2018 .

He will be working as a custodian of Asia-Australia & pacific Island at the council. Dr Data gave more focus on making internet inclusive for another billion people by breaking language barrier.

Zahid Jamil, the Chair of the 2018 Nominating Committee, shared the following statement about the 2018 Nominating Committee and its results:
“I am pleased to announce that the 2018 Nominating Committee has completed the task assigned to it by the ICANN community. The selection of all positions shown above was finalized by the Nominating Committee at ICANN62 in Panama City, Panama. Selections for all Board positions were decided unanimously.

The 2018 Nominating Committee received 109 applications from candidates all over the world (33 women and 76 men) during its nomination period, which took place from 31 January 2018 to 19 March 2018.
The regional breakdown of this year’s candidates are 18 from Africa ,27 from Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands, 20 from Europe, 13 from Latin America, Caribbean Islands ,31 from North America., Eight person has been globally selected from 109 applications.

Dr. Ajay Data says that “Participation in ccNSO Council will allow me to contribute to the policies pertaining to country code names. With this responsibility, I will be in better position to work towards breaking the language barrier for getting the next billion people online,”

ccNSO is constituted under structure of ICANN that manages procedures of name and numerical spaces on Internet. Dr. Ajay Data’s appointment on its council has come following his association with the linguistic email services. Founder& CEO of Data XGen Technologies that has first of its kind Internationalized Domain Name Service supporting in 19 languages.
