More Android-based smartphone vendors are expected to incorporate fingerprint and force touch sensors into their new models for 2016 as they strive to enhance the performance of their new products to compete more effectively with iPhone devices, according to sources from Taiwan’s handset supply chain.
IC design houses i Taiwan and china are expected to benefit from emerging trend as the penetration rates of fingerprint sensors in the mid-range and high-end Android smartphone will at its height significantly by 2016 then force touch sensors will likely to become standard for premium models as the news given by the sources.
In addition to that NFC technology should be thanked for mobile payment services,demand for finger reprint sensors is also likely to expand b folds in 2016 .
Taiwan-based IC vendors Egis Technology, Elan Microelectronics, Focal Tech Systems and China-based Silead and Goodix have begun shipping fingerprint sensors, mostly in small volumes.
