Ahmedabad-based UTM Major Cyberoam Technologies, that recently got acquired by Sophos, is planning to re-launch its entry level ADSL solution, NetGenie, which is a combination of Routers and Unified Threat Management appliance network security solutions.

After a gap of three years, the company wants to re-launch the SoHo version of NetGenie in the month of June, 2014. The company will be launching this product at a price of Rs 9,999.

Based on customer feedback and slow market acceptance, the company pulled back the sale of NetGenie SoHo and Consumer variants in the year 2012. Now, after taking a break, it is seeing growth for this product in the Indian market. Apart from the price correction, the company has also improved its product strategy and segment positioning for NetGenie.

In an exclusive interaction with Sunil Sharma, VP Sales India and Saarc, Cyberoam, a Sophos company shared its revival plans for NetGenie product. He said, “Over the period, our technical team has made major improvements in the products. We have also reworked our product strategy and planning. Earlier when we launched NetGenie SoHo version in the year 2011, it catered only to the retail segment. But as per new plan, we will target 10-15 office users for this product at a very attractive price. We have cut down the pricing from Rs 13,000 to 9,999.”

The company claims that none of its competitors offers these kind of products targeting small offices at such a low price. “We see there is no such solution meant for below 20 users in the market. This market is yet to be penetrated and we see huge scope to grow in this segment with our NetGenie solution.”

With NetGenie, the company wants to disrupt the SoHo market. Cyberoam is a strong player for its UTM and network software security in the SMB and SMEs market. This is for the first time; Cyberaom is launching a product at this sub 10k price band for 10 users.

First Fligh courier is one of the biggest customers for NetGenie, being installed at 1300 locations in India. Besides, NetGenie re-launch, the company is also looking at strengthening its SAARC and US business.

Sharma added, “There is a concern among Small Office owners about employees visiting unproductive websites and applications and the lack of keeping a tab on their online activities. NetGenie for SOHO offers Internet Controls with single-click Internet restriction levels along with real-time reporting on online activities as well as security of the network. NetGenie is an easy plug-n-play solution.”
