BSNL to roll out Wi-Fi hotspots in Hyderabad

State-run BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has reportedly picked Hyderabad to roll out its Wi-Fi services in public places. According to a report in The Hindu, internet speeds of 4G plus will be on offer to mobile users of various network operators at six locations across the city.
These locations, according to the report, include Maitrivanam in Ameerpet, Kamineni Hospitals in LB Nagar and Koti, District Treasury Office, BSNL office in Abids and Gachibowli.
The plan reportedly ranges from Rs 10 for 100MB data for a one-day validity to Rs 599 for 10GB data for 30 days validity. Physical vouchers to avail the Wi-Fi services are also said to be available at various outlets across the city.
L Anantharam, chief general manager, BSNL said that 925 access points across 121 hotspot zones will be installed in Telangana in the next two months. He added that mobile data Offloading facility too will be activated in the next weeks allowing BSNL users to automatically connect to the Wi-Fi once they are in the hotspot zone.
The company recently launched three new prepaid promotional tariff vouchers priced at Rs 349, Rs 334 and Rs 395 offering rock bottom pricing for 3G data and talk time depending on the scheme.
BSNL has dragged the data pricing to Rs 1.2 per GB and claimed it is most competitive now in India with tariff voucher of Rs 334 offering 3GB data daily for 90 days validity.
BSNL officials said these three packs targeted at broad segment of consumers preference between data and voice, will not only enable them to retain the existing customer base but also add more.
