BBC TopGear India scores a century

Mumbai- December, 2013: Right on the heel of celebrating its eighth anniversary, BBC TopGear India brings yet another cracking edition in December 2013 to celebrate their 100th issue. “Usually, such occasions are used to relive past glory and rehash old stories. But we used our 100th issue to look ahead with never before driven cars”, said Mr. Girish Karkera, Editor, BBC TopGear India.

Leading the charge in the 100th issue is the new Aston Martin Rapide S at Film City in Mumbai. BBC TopGear went full throttle with it as it coincided with the 100th year of Aston Martin and the 100th year of Indian cinema. Following the Aston is the physics-defying Ferrari 458 driven on the tough, traffic and pothole-infested Chennai Bypass road.

Along with such exclusive stories, BBC TopGear took the super rare Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale to locomotive shed. There are only 150 in the world, and only one in India. “The cars and bikes in our issue are modern legends and they reflect what that the magazine stands for. We respect the past, we live in the present and we are ready for the future, Girish added”

In this fascinating amalgamation of modern and relevant machines, there is also a send-off to the legendary BMW M3 that is due to be replaced soon. And there is also homage to the never-say-die Ambassador.  The 100th issue is the flag bearer of BBC TopGear India’s ethos to entertain, inform, and provide a feel of machines that bring out the best of human engineering ability and technology. The magazine makes the act of driving and riding, the most fun and the most engaging human activity.

Further to this adds Girish, “We test everything from budget hatches to physics-defying supercars and evaluate them with a proper perspective and give you an honest verdict without allowing ourselves to be overawed by the economy, the brilliance or the stature of the machines we drive. That can only come with 100 issues worth of knowledge, experience and expertise.”

BBC TopGear India magazine anniversary special is priced at Rs. 150 and is available at all newsstands.
