Bajaj introduces Chetak Premium and Urbane models in India, challenging Ola S1

Bajaj Auto has introduced its latest electric scooter models, the Chetak Urbane and the Chetak Premium 2024, to compete with counterparts such as Ola S1 and Ather 450 series in the Indian electric scooter market. The Urbane variant, positioned as the more affordable option, comes with both aesthetic and mechanical modifications compared to the Premium model.

Both the Chetak Urbane and Premium models feature a robust steel body. The Premium variant stands out with a notable upgrade in its display – a square-shaped 5-inch TFT screen that showcases essential information like music controls, calls, and directions. However, display preferences are subjective, and some users may prefer the simpler round LCD on the Urbane model.

The scooters share several features, including hill hold assist, reverse mode, geo-location tracking, and key fob access, striking a balance between convenience and safety. Of particular interest is the TecPac option available for the Chetak Premium, which can be purchased on Bajaj Auto’s website. This add-on provides turn-by-turn navigation, music playback control, call alerts, and the ability to personalize the display theme.

In terms of color choices, the Chetak Urbane is offered in coarse grey, cyber white, brooklyn black, and indigo metallic blue. The Premium model, while providing a more limited selection, features equally stylish colors, including hazelnut, indigo metallic blue, and brooklyn black.

Regarding the battery, the Bajaj Chetak Premium 2024 is equipped with a 3.2 kWh battery, delivering an extended range of 126 km. In contrast, the Urbane model features a 2.9 kWh battery with a range of 113 km. Additionally, the Premium 2024 Bajaj Chetak comes with an 800W charger, while the Urbane is equipped with a 650W charger.

Both new Chetak models boast a top speed of 73 km/h. Notable features include hill hold assist, reverse mode, and geo-location tracking. Premium version buyers have the option to purchase the TecPac for advanced navigation and additional functionalities.

The pricing for the Bajaj Chetak Premium 2024 is set at Rs 1,35,463, while the Chetak Urbane 2024 is priced at Rs 1,15,002.
