ASRock Kicks Off 9 Series OC Competition with Total Prize Up to USD $10,000

The worlds leading motherboard maker ASRock announced today its latest overclocking competition with HWBOT “ASRock 9 Series OC Competition” starting from October 20th to December 1st. The participants will be competing for the highest 3DMark Fire Strike or 3DMark 2001 SE score which is submitted to HWBOT. In collaboration with global top PC hardware brands Antec, Crucial and Palit, ASRock offers a grand total prize worth USD $10, 000 approximately.

The contest is opened to all overclockers with ASRock X99 and Z97 chipset motherboards and 5th Gen Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3/ Processors (LGA 1150 and 2011-3 Socket). The competition includes two events: 3DMark Fire Strike and 3DMark 2001 SE. The participant who submits the highest score within the six week period will be the final champion for each event respectively. In the meantime, the entries will also be reviewed on a bi-weekly basis and the highest scorers will be the bi-weekly winner.

The participants of 3DMark Fire Strike are required to overclock Intel’s first 8-core desktop processor Haswell-E CPUs with DDR4 memory on ASRock X99 motherboards, to pursue the ultimate computing performance. On the other hand, the participants of 3DMark2001 SE will be using ASRock Z97 motherboards and the 5th Gen Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3/Pentium®/Celeron®Processors. The classic benchmark test 3DMark2001 SE combines DirectX®8.1 support with graphics and empowers users to make informed hardware assessments.

ASRock and its partners jointly provide a good chunk of prizes for the winners of the contest: The final champion of each event will be awarded with top prizes of USD $3, 000 value. Besides, ASRock offers an extra USD $500 cash prize for the champion that breaks the world record of either 3DMark Fire Strike or 3DMark2001 SE test, and the official contest partners includingAntec, Crucial and Palit will add additional USD300 bucks if the entry tops the chart with their brands’ components. That is to say the final winner might win a total prize of USD $4400 prize at maximum.
