Apple’s latest financial report shows a revenue of $89.5 billion for the quarter

Apple reported its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023, which ended on September 30, 2023. The company posted a revenue of $89.5 billion for the quarter, marking a slight 1 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. Earnings per diluted share were reported at $1.46, showing a 13 percent increase year over year.

CEO Tim Cook expressed satisfaction with Apple’s performance, highlighting a record revenue for iPhone and all-time high revenue in Services for the September quarter. He emphasized the robust product lineup, particularly mentioning the iPhone 15 series and the introduction of Apple’s first carbon-neutral Apple Watch models.

During an investor call, Apple provided a breakdown of revenue by category. Cook mentioned that the iPhone 15 series witnessed a stronger start than its predecessor, contributing to the $43.8 billion revenue generated from iPhone sales, which was an increase from the same quarter the previous year.

However, the revenue from Mac products notably declined, reporting $7.6 billion, a 34% decrease compared to the corresponding quarter in 2022. Similarly, revenue from iPad sales also decreased, amounting to $6.4 billion. The absence of new iPad launches in 2023 was cited as a factor contributing to the decreased revenue.

Apple’s CFO, Luca Maestri, highlighted the company’s milestone of reaching a new record high in the active installed base of devices worldwide. Maestri also noted the double-digit growth in earnings per share and the return of nearly $25 billion to shareholders during the September quarter, all while maintaining investments in long-term growth plans.
