According to a brief announcement on the company’s official website, Apple will be opening its first physical store in India in Mumbai.

The sign says, “Hello Mumbai. We are getting ready to welcome you aboard our first store in India. And raring to see where your creativity takes you at Apple BKC. The new store is “coming soon,” according to Apple’s website.

Apple is set to open its first retail store in Mumbai, India, at the Jio World Drive mall. The store will cover an area of around 22,000 square feet. While the opening of the Mumbai store has been delayed several times due to the pandemic, it looks like it’s finally ready to open.

The new location in India is not a total surprise, as CEO Tim Cook had announced in 2020 that Apple would open its first retail store in India in 2021.

However, the pandemic caused delays, and the store’s opening date was pushed back to the first quarter of 2022, which Apple also missed. Nevertheless, the store’s opening is imminent, and customers in Mumbai are eagerly waiting for Apple’s official announcement.

The company has started hiring for previously un-announced outlets in India. Apple has been recruiting at “various locations” throughout the nation, which would appear to suggest that more retail stores will soon be opening in India.

Apple has recently increased its investments in India. It opened an online store there in September 2020, and the nation is where many flagship iPhones are produced.
