AWS and Advertising Lead Growth
Among its divisions, Amazon Web Services (AWS) remained the top performer, growing 19% and significantly contributing to the company’s profitability. Meanwhile, e-commerce sales rose by 7%, and physical store revenue saw an 8% increase. The advertising segment also experienced strong growth at 18%, further solidifying Amazon’s dominance in the digital ad market. Prime memberships surged by 10%, reflecting increasing consumer loyalty and engagement.
AI-Powered Future and ₹9 Lakh Crore Investment
CEO Andy Jassy highlighted artificial intelligence (AI) as the biggest business opportunity since the internet, prompting Amazon to invest a massive ₹9 lakh crore in AI advancements. The company’s AI-powered shopping assistant, Rufus, has been enhancing the customer shopping experience, providing personalized recommendations and improving search results. Additionally, Amazon has ramped up robotic automation in its warehouses, increasing efficiency and reducing operational costs.
Faster Deliveries Boost Sales
The push for faster delivery services has also played a crucial role in Amazon’s growth. Prime same-day and next-day orders surged by an impressive 65%, reinforcing Amazon’s commitment to delivering products at record speeds. This improvement in logistics has helped attract more Prime subscribers and drive higher sales.
Caution for Q1 2025
Despite its stellar performance in 2024, Amazon has issued a cautious outlook for Q1 2025, citing potential exchange rate fluctuations as a challenge. The company expects revenue growth to slow to 5-9%, with operating profit projected between ₹1.2-1.6 lakh crore.
Amazon’s Continued Dominance
With its focus on AI-driven innovations, automation, and rapid deliveries, Amazon continues to set new benchmarks in global retail and technology. While the company anticipates a slower start to 2025, its long-term strategy of leveraging AI, cloud computing, and logistics efficiency ensures that it remains at the forefront of e-commerce and digital transformation.
