All four iPhone 15 models could feature 48MP camera

Apple is reportedly planning to equip all models in the upcoming iPhone 15 series, including the standard versions, with a 48MP primary camera.

Last year, the 48MP sensor was introduced exclusively in the iPhone 14 Pro models. Sony, the supplier of camera sensors, has allegedly reached out to TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) to handle the color filter film production due to capacity limitations.

The increased demand for the 48MP camera in more iPhone models has put pressure on Sony, prompting the need for potential expansion in their manufacturing processes.

Sony’s camera sensors are known for their sensitivity and low image noise, achieved through advanced manufacturing techniques. The transition from a double layer to a triple layer in their CMOS sensors has presented some challenges.

Earlier reports indicated potential supply constraints for the camera sensors, raising concerns about production delays for the iPhone 15 series, specifically related to the camera component.
