Alcatel-Lucent Tie-Up Will Change Markets Worldwide

Alcatel-Lucent has collaborated with leading cloud alcatel lucent signsoftware and hardware companies like Red Hat, Advantech and 6WIND to boost the roll out of commercial virtualized radio access network (vRAN) products. 

The aim of collaboration is to improve Alcatel-Lucent’s vRAN technology, working on the CloudBand™ NFV platform, to ensure that it complies with service providers’ wide performance and reliability needs.

In the wake of increasing consumer demand for video data applications, it is envisioned that the growth of the Internet-of-Things and the launch of 5G wireless technology, service providers are on the look out for optimising their networks to allow new cost and operational efficiencies.

By using this collaboration, Alcatel-Lucent aims to offer a complete NFV-compliant virtualised radio access network which will meet with the high-performance, high-availability cloud requirements. Glenn Booth, vice-president of Wireless Portfolio Management and Strategy at Alcatel-Lucent stated that they are leading in vRAN technology and make use of a strategy of collaboration that combine leading third-party technologies and ensure delivery of high quality products meeting the individual requirements of their service provider customers.
