Telecom giants in India have been in a fierce price battle ever since Reliance Jio entered the fray last September. To fight competition and keep their subscriber base intact, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and other telecom companies have announced a slew of plans offering data and voice plans at affordable rates. In the latest move, country’s No. 1 telecom service provider Airtel has introduced a new data plan that costs just Rs 5. The Rs 5 data plan comes just days after the company introduced Rs 8 plan for prepaid customers. Airtel’s Rs 5 plan is for prepaid users and it offers users 4GB of 4G data. However, the validity of this data is only for seven days. Also, the Rs 5 prepaid plan is available only for 4G SIM cards. In addition, the Rs 5 plan is also a one-time recharge. Also mentioned is that once the seven days are over, the data won’t be carried forward. The company further added that new SIM card holders need to go for the plan within 54 days of the purchase of a new SIM. The existing Airtel prepaid users can also avail the plan. The company confirmed the plan details to Gadgets Now. Rs 8 plan: Local and STD calls for 30 paisa Under the Rs 8 plan, Airtel subscribers will be able to make local and STD calls at 30 paisa per minute for a period of 56 days.
