At the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, emphasised the importance of a strengthened technology alliance between India and the United States, especially as India joins the US-led Pax Silica initiative to build secure and resilient supply chains for critical technologies including artificial intelligence (AI).
Speaking at an event marking the signing of the Pax Silica Declaration, Mr. Pichai described the India-US partnership as vital for shaping the future of AI and its global benefits. He noted that while the world stands on the verge of rapid technological advances, positive outcomes are not automatic and require collaboration between nations.
Highlighting India’s growing potential in AI, Pichai said that Google is supporting the country’s technological growth through product development, scaling, infrastructure and partnerships. He pointed to India-specific initiatives such as AI solutions tailored for local needs, including monsoon forecasting for farmers, disease screening tools, and multilingual access to digital services. He also mentioned Google’s AI Skill House programme, aimed at expanding AI skills among millions of future Indian leaders.
Pichai underlined that such cooperative efforts depend on stable and trusted supply chains—from hardware components to software and digital infrastructure—reinforcing the purpose of the Pax Silica initiative. The declaration prioritises secure supply chains and encourages deeper commercial partnerships across key technologies, with the goal of making AI benefits widely accessible.
India’s formal participation in the Pax Silica initiative at the summit reflects a strategic step in broadening its tech ties with the United States and strengthening its role in global AI development and supply chain resilience.
