Acer Launches Laptop With Under 1cm Thickness And More At IFA 2016

Acer today expanded its product portfolio with the unveiling of a 53949840slew of products, including a Chromebook, curved display gaming laptop and gaming monitors at pre-IFA 2016 event in Berlin. Along with this, the company also launched eight new laptop devices for general users. Out of these, four laptops fall under the convertible Spin laptop series while the other four are of the company’s Swift series.

The Spin 7 series includes the Spin 7, Spin 5, Spin 3 and Spin 1 laptops. All the four devices run on Windows 10 OS with Continuum support and have 360-degree hinges that enables them to convert into display mode, notebook, tablet, tent mode and more.

The Acer Swift laptops are thin and light-weight, which makes them highly portable. The four laptops namely the Swift 7, Swift 5, Swift 3 and Swift 1 run on Windows 10 OS.

The Acer Swift 7 weighing 1.1kg is the company’s first-ever laptop that is thinner than 1cm. This also makes the device thinner than the recently-launched HP Spectre laptop , which measures 1.04cm. The laptop features a 13.3-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution display with a micro-bezel and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is also rated to deliver up to 9 hours of battery life in a single charge. The device is powered by 7th- generation Intel Kaby Lake Core i5 processor clubbed with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage. It supports dual-USB 3.1 Type-C ports along with HD webcam.

The Acer Swift 5 sports 14-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolutions display and runs 7th-generation Intel Kaby Lake processor with up to 8GB RAM under-the-hood. It also comes with optional 256GB or 512GB SATA. The device can run for up to 13 hours on a single charge. It also has USB Type-C port and a fingerprint sensor as well.

The Acer Swift 3 weighing 3.3kg can run for 12 hours, comes in 14-inch HD or full HD IPS display and in 6th or 7th-generation Intel processor options. Some of the other specifications of the device include 512GB SSD, up to 8GB RAM, USB 3.1 Type-C port, fingerprint sensor, and HD webcam.

Acer Swift 1 laptop is aimed for students. The laptop weighs 1.6kg and has brushed metal-like finish with diamond-cut edges around the power button and touchpad. It offers 12 hours of battery life, has 14-inch HD display and comes in Intel Pentium or Celeron processor options. 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB or 128GB inbuilt storage options are also available.

The Swift 7, Swift 5, Swift 3 and Swift 1 start at $999, $749, $499 and $249 respectively. While the Swift 7 and Swift 3 laptops will arrive in October, the Swift 5 and Swift 1 will the shelves starting November.

Coming to the Acer Spin series, the Spin 7 features 14-inch full HD IPS Corning Gorilla Glass touch screen display and is powered by the 7th Gen Intel Kaby Lake processor clubbed with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage. It also has dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports and a wide glass touchpad as well. Acer claims the laptop as “sleek and contemporary” and claims that the device sports matte black chassis, polished silver hinges, and diamond-cut edges around the touchpad. It is also rated to deliver 8 hours of battery life on single charge.

The Acer Spin 5 comes with a 13.3-inch full HD IPS touchscreen display with the support for Acer Active Pen with Windows Ink feature. It is powered by 7th Gen Intel Kaby Lake processor with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM and up to 512GB SSD storage. The laptop has a battery life of up to 10 hours and sports a HD webcam with HDR imaging support.

The Acer Spin 3 comes in a larger 15.6-inch HD or full HD display options, runs on 6th Gen Intel Sky Lake processor with up to 12GB DDR4, features up to 256GB SSD and up to 1TB hard drive. A backlight ergonomic keyboard with a 1.6 mm keystroke, HD webcam, and up to 9.5 hours of battery life is also offered.

The Acer Spin 1 laptop is aimed for students. It comes in 13-inch or 11.6-inch full HD IPS display and different Intel Pentium or Celeron processor configurations. One of the models (SP111-31) also supports Acer Active Pen stylus for better productivity. It has almost the same battery life as the Spin 3.

The Acer Spin 7, Spin 5, Spin 3 and Spin 1 are priced starting $1199, $599, $499 and $249 respectively. While the Spin 7, Spin 5, and Spin 3 will be available in the US in October, the Spin 1 will arrive in December.
