Acer Announces New TravelMate X349 laptop

Acer has launched its TravelMate X349 laptop. Part of the Acercompany’s new TravelMate series, the laptop will be available in the US this October. The base price of the laptop starts at $649.99, and it will also be available in other regions such as Europe , Middle East and China.

According to Acer, the TravelMate X349 has a “sleek all-aluminium chassis” less than 18mm in thickness. Aimed at heavy users who are always on the go, the laptop is claimed to have a battery life of up to 10 hours. It also has an efficient Intel Core CPU.

The 14-inch TravelMate X349 features a brushed metal design and weighs 1.53 kg. It runs Windows 10 Pro and sports a 14-inch Full HD IPS display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution. The laptop is powered by a 6th generation Core processor clubbed with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB SSD.

Acer TravelMate X349 also includes an LED backlit keyboard, paired with the company’s precision touchpad for improved navigation. There is also an HD (720p resolution) webcam for video conferencing purposes. In addition, the laptop comes with a USB Type-C port to connect with Acer’s USB Type-C Dock as well.

Since the laptop is powered by Windows 10 Pro, it features all the Windows 10 goodies like Cortana, new Start Menu, Windows Hello for secure login and more. “It also ships a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 chip that increases platform integrity and provides hardware-based protection for passwords and encryption keys,” says the company. The laptop also houses Acer ProShield Manager to protect user data.

Hoping to surpass competitors, tech companies have been trying their best to bring more innovation in their products. HP last month launched the thinnest laptop in the world – HP Spectre, in India. With price starting at Rs 1,19,990, the Spectre will be available starting July 25.
