Cubbit, the first geo-distributed cloud storage enabler, today announced a new partnership and supported technology integration with Commvault, a leader in unified resilience at enterprise scale. The collaboration aims to help Italian and European organisations advance their digital sovereignty, cyber resilience, and operational simplicity across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Across Europe, organisations are facing rapid data growth alongside an evolving risk landscape, where ransomware and operational disruption are now board-level concerns. At the same time, regulatory pressure is increasing — from GDPR to sector-specific requirements — including DORA for operational resilience in financial services, NIS2 for cybersecurity and incident preparedness across critical sectors and supply chains, and the EU Cloud Sovereignty Framework. For IT leaders, the need to control where data is stored and how it is managed has become a crucial priority.
The joint Cubbit–Commvault solution addresses these challenges by combining Commvault’s cyber resilience capabilities with Cubbit’s S3 solutions. Organisations can adopt DS3 Cloud — Cubbit’s fully managed cloud object storage — via Cubbit partners, or deploy DS3 Composer on-premises. Both models run on Cubbit’s European technology and enable data to be stored on European infrastructure. Organisations can use this S3-compatible storage as the destination for backup data and long-term retention. At the same time, they maintain control over data localisation, environment operations, and cryptographic key management. In addition, customers can rely on Commvault’s solutions to address the challenges of growing cyber threats and protect and recover their essential business services rapidly and securely.

“Cubbit is establishing itself as the European technology of reference for data management among large customers and institutions. This supported technology integration with Commvault marks an important step forward. It confirms that our DS3 technology is consolidating its presence in the Italian and European market. Together with Commvault, we will give organisations a straightforward way to strengthen cyber resilience, simplify operations, and support digital sovereignty and control across hybrid and multi-cloud environments,” said Alessandro Cillario, co-CEO and co-founder of Cubbit.

“We are delighted to announce this new partnership with Cubbit to help address the challenges that Italian and European organisations face today. In a context where exponential data growth faces an increasingly complex threat landscape, and where regulatory compliance — from GDPR to DORA and NIS2 — is an absolute priority, our integrated solution helps organisations meet their sovereignty and resilience requirements with the utmost operational simplicity,” said Vincenzo Granato, Country Manager of Commvault Italia.
