Oppo Confirms Reno 16 Series Launch for May; Pre-Reservations Now Open

Oppo has officially teased the upcoming launch of its Reno 16 series in China, confirming that the new lineup will be unveiled later this month. As the successor to the Reno 15 family, the series is expected to include at least two models: the standard Reno 16 and the higher-end Reno 16 Pro.

Pre-Reservation Details

While an exact launch date remains under wraps, Oppo has already opened pre-reservations for the series across major Chinese e-commerce platforms, including its official store, JD.com, and Tmall. Early customers who book the devices can reportedly secure exclusive benefits worth approximately CNY 278 for a nominal fee of just CNY 1.

Anticipated Specifications and Features

Leaked reports suggest significant hardware upgrades across both models, focusing on performance, battery life, and professional-grade photography:

  • Displays: The standard Reno 16 is expected to be a compact model with a 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED screen. The Reno 16 Pro may feature a larger 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED flat panel with ultra-thin bezels and a 120Hz refresh rate.

  • Performance: The series is tipped to transition to MediaTek Dimensity chipsets. The Reno 16 may use the Dimensity 8500, while the Pro model is rumored to house the more powerful Dimensity 9500s.

  • Camera System: Both devices are rumored to sport a 200-megapixel primary rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). The Pro model may also include a periscope telephoto lens for improved zoom capabilities.

  • Battery and Charging: The Reno 16 Pro is expected to pack a massive 7,000mAh battery, potentially supporting 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

  • Design and Build: Premium glass and aluminum construction are anticipated, and the devices might include a new physical action button inspired by recent flagship designs.

Global Availability

Following the China debut this month, global markets—including India—are expected to receive the Reno 16 series between July and August 2026. The devices will likely launch with ColorOS 16.1, based on the Android 16 operating system.
