Our industry sources revealed earlier this year that ASUS began local manufacturing of select models, which clearly signals long-term commitment to the Indian enterprise market. The company also announced a major tie-up with an e-commerce platform to scale outreach for business laptops and has been steadily expanding its focus on government and institutional projects.
Now, with the launch of its new ExpertBook B Series in India last week, ASUS has taken a significant step in rounding out its portfolio for business users of all sizes. Positioned at the top end of this new series is the ExpertBook B5405CCA, a premium business laptop aimed at professionals and enterprise IT teams who want more than just powerful specs, they want peace of mind, long-term value, and a product built for the realities of everyday work.
I spent over a week with this machine and tested it across a range of daily business tasks to see how well it holds up.
Sturdy Build and Comprehensive Connectivity
The first thing that stood out was the all-aluminium chassis and gentle grey color. It feels robust and refined yet manages to stay lightweight at just around 1.35 kg. I carried it around between meetings, airports, and commutes without ever feeling like it added bulk. ASUS claims that the B5405 undergoes 24 MIL-STD 810H tests and more than 150 internal durability tests. While most of us won’t run lab tests, everyday incidents are good indicators.
During the review, I dropped the laptop a couple of times from waist height onto a hard floor. The system worked fine, no cracks, no dents, and the hinge remained solid. The reinforced ports and hinges, rated for thousands of plug cycles, do feel solid, especially when you’re plugging in accessories on the go. The keyboard is spill-resistant (rated to survive up to 78cc of liquid) came in handy too, when I accidentally knocked over my bottle of water. A quick cleanup later, the machine was back to business.
It’s the subtle durability reinforcements like port bracing to handle up to 9kg of stress, hinge testing up to 50,000 cycles, and panel pressure resistance up to 30kg, that make it feel like the B5405 is built for the reality of long work hours, travel, and occasional accidents. For IT departments looking at multi-year deployments, this makes a strong case for lower refresh costs.

Serious Performance, Quiet Thermals
The unit I used came with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265H processor (16 cores, 5.3GHz boost) and integrated Intel Arc graphics, paired with 32GB of DDR5 RAM (dual SO-DIMM slots) and 1TB PCIE Gen 4 SSD (dual slots). For a commercial laptop, this combination feels future-ready. Whether I was juggling spreadsheets, Teams meetings, browser tabs, or running data-heavy PowerBI dashboards, the B5 handled it all with no stutter or lag.
ASUS’s ExpertCool thermal system, which includes a dust-repelling mesh and larger heat pipe, works well. Even during extended calls or when plugged into an external display for presentations, the laptop stayed cool and quiet. The fan only kicked in under heavy loads and remained discreet. This kind of thermal reliability will matter over time, especially when used in environments where performance drop offs due to overheating can disrupt work.
Display and Battery: Practical for Professionals
The test unit came with a higher-end 14-inch WQXGA screen (2560×1600), 180-degree lay flat anti glare screen and 16:10 aspect ratio that delivered excellent clarity. The anti-glare finish works well in bright spaces and the TÜV Rheinland certification for eye protection is more than just a sticker. Even after 3-4 hours working with my presentations and spreadsheets, I did not feel strain on my eye.
On a full charge and a mix of operations including work sheets, video calls and watching video content, the battery easily lasted for about 6 hours with 10% remaining. You should note that the battery life may vary by workload and screen brightness. The 65W USB-C charger is quick and compact, but what truly sets it apart is support for power bank charging through full-range voltage USB-C (5V to 24V). I tried it out during a train ride with a standard USB C power bank. It’s not fast, but it can make all the difference if there was a pinch situation.
AI Tools from ASUS
One of the most understated strengths of the ExpertBook B5405CCA lies in its integration of Intel’s latest Ultra Series 2 processors with a triple-engine architecture. The system intelligently distributes AI heavy tasks, so they don’t drain battery or impact overall responsiveness. This is a big win for business users who depend on their machines for long, uninterrupted workdays.
ASUS AI ExpertMeet tool is meant for AI-related tasks and Asus provides this free of charge and does not require any subscription fee. I used this during calls, including one from a moving car. AI noise cancellation filtered out traffic, and the webcam’s auto framing kept me centered without fuss. Most useful was the real-time transcription, which turned a team meeting into a clean summary ready to share. This did not work with Hindi participants and probably the language isn’t available yet, but English conversations were picked up perfectly.
Built-in Security and Enterprise Controls
Security is clearly a strength. The B5405CCA comes with everything from Discrete TPM 2.0 to a self healing BIOS with dual EEPROM, BIOS Guard, Boot Guard, Absolute Persistence, and even an optical chassis intrusion alert. Fingerprint login on the power button and IR camera for Windows Hello provide fast biometric access. This unit came with one-year McAfee+ Premium subscription free as a bundle for an additional layer and may be optional depending on the enterprise user’s preference.
During setup, I accessed BIOS to explore the customization levels, and it’s apparent that this is a laptop built with IT deployment in mind. ASUS allows BIOS and OS image customization at the factory level even for small batches. This reduces prep time for IT teams and improves policy compliance out of the box.
Verdict: Practical, Powerful, and Enterprise-Ready
The ASUS ExpertBook B5405CCA is a well-rounded business laptop built for long-term use. With a durable all-metal chassis, enterprise-grade security features, and strong performance from Intel’s latest Ultra processors, it checks the right boxes for professional and IT-centric environments. It’s not the slimmest or flashiest laptop, and audio could be better for multimedia-heavy tasks but for everyday business use, the trade-offs are sensible. With excellent build quality, thoughtful expandability, and real-world AI tools, the B5405CCA positions itself as a dependable choice for enterprises looking to invest in worry-free computing.
